This performance was the culmination of 4 days of research and development led by Feral co-director Emily and supported by the Arts Council of Wales and Aberystwyth Arts Centre. With a visual narrative style and poetic text Arth (meaning bear in Welsh) tells a birth story and looks at the transformative power of motherhood. It explores how ritual helps to understand and process our experiences and our relationship with the non human world.
The artists involved include Welsh poet Susan Richardson, Aberystwyth Arts Centre’s Gill Ogden, and director Rachel Porter from Gent, Belgium. A choir of local volunteers was led by Feral artist Ben Macfadyen.
