Dream a Little Dream for Me

“Finish that warm drink, plump up the pillows, pull up the duvet, relax. But be prepared…anything could happen.”

In spring 2020, commissioned by NTW, Emily collected online audience members’ lockdown dreams and turned them into live streamed pieces of performance animation, with a soundtrack by Henry Sears.

Within a tiny puppet booth, dreams collected from the audience were brought to life: death defying chases, monstrous transmogrification and the warping of time and space – rendered with simple and beautiful paint, card and improvised live music and sound.

Whether dreams foretell the future, allow us to commune with the divine, or simply provide a better understanding of ourselves, this was a moment to celebrate the subliminal and dive into our dreams, and all the weirdness they bring.
